Underwater in the Bahamas

THE BAHAMAS, it should go without saying, are surrounded by water. And as a guest of the Caribbean island(s) nation I was surrounded by water too. Thank god. Because this water is awesome – sometimes placid and clear, sometimes tempestuous and rough – the water had a personality all its own. Using my Gopro I tried to captured all of the various temperaments of the water that The Bahamas enjoys. I had a great time fishing, snorkeling, beach combing and exploring with my fellow adventurers Lee Abbamonte, Matt Kepnes, Mike Richard and Matt Long. This ‘Guys Trip’ to the ‘Bro-hamas’ was made possible by Bahamas...

Screen Shot: kayaking in West Sweden

I ENDED AN AMAZING SUMMER season of travel with a kayaking trip in West Sweden. The Outdoor Academy of Sweden invited me and 40 or so other journalists, adventure tour operators and gear manufacturers for several days of paddling and camping. Our playground was the Bohuslän coast and the 8,000 islands that rise out of the calm waters. These screen shots were taken from my GoPro video I created on the trip.Watch THE VIDEO of my adventures and READ THE ARTICLE on Matador Network – if you are looking for a little more Swedish armchair adventure. 5 days in Costa Rica [VID]

I TAKE a lot of photos when I travel. About 75 a day, give or take. My favorite way to showcase them after the trip is to line them up end to end and present them in a video – displaying for .2 seconds each. I call these photomotion videos and I friggin love to make them. Watch my last photomotion: How to Take 500 photos on Maui During my recent trip to Costa Rica I saw crocodiles and monkeys. I walked the beaches of Tortuguerro and kayaked its canals. I went horseback riding, listened to a bongo band and let gigantic beetles crawl up my arm. I strolled the jungle trails of Tampanti National Park, drank craft beer in Cartago and came face to scaly face with a caiman or two. It was a good trip. Here it is – if you blink you miss...

Salta’s mountaintop gondola – Argentina

RIDE TO THE TOP of San Bernardo mountain and overlook the valley below. The gondola ride was about $5 and originates in San Martin park. At the top of the mountain is a tiny cafe to grab a snack and a series of garden paths that wind around man made waterfalls, which sounds pretty cheesy but is quite pleasant. Salta is a nice enough place but I think it best serves as a jumping off point for further explorations of this beautiful region. I recommend a day trip to Cachi with a stop at Los Cardones National Park, just don’t hug the...
